Castro Marim: 82-year-old man in respiratory arrest helped at Praia do Cabeço

Resuscitation maneuvers began to be carried out by lifeguards

An 82-year-old man who felt unwell and went into cardiac arrest while bathing on Cabeço beach, on the Castro Marim coast, was helped this morning by lifeguards and members of the “SeaWatch” Project.

The alert was given at 11:05 am by people who were nearby, reporting that a person was feeling unwell in the water.

Immediately, elements of the “SeaWatch” Project, as well as the Volunteer Firefighters of Vila Real de Santo António, Immediate Life Support (SIV) and INEM, went to the site.

The victim was pulled out of the water by lifeguards on duty on the beach, who began resuscitation maneuvers, continued by elements of the “SeaWatch” Project and the SIV.

The victim was removed from the beach by the Amarok vehicle of “Seawatch”, and was later transported to a hospital unit by INEM.
