Fernando Daniel is the big name on the poster for the religious festivals in Castro Marim in Honor of N. Sra. of the Martyrs. The concert takes place on the 15th of August, at 22 pm, in the area surrounding Casa do Sal.
Although Praça 1º de Maio is the chosen stage for the Festivities in Honor of N. Sra. dos Mártires, the gradual technical requirement of the shows and better security conditions led this year the Castromarinense municipality to conduct the celebrations in this noble area of the village, reclassified and inaugurated in March.
In this edition, the Festivities in Honor of N. Sra. dos Mártires will run from the 12th to the 15th of August.
The first night, the 12th, is St. António who hosts the celebrations, a concert by Banda Musical Castromarinense, at 22:00, in an initiative of the Parish Council of Castro Marim.
The opening of the Handicraft and Ethnography Fair takes place on the 13th, in the area surrounding Casa do Sal, at 19 pm, with more than 00 artisans from different arts and talents, from tinwork, basketry, bobbin lace, not forgetting gastronomy.
At 21:00, the highlight goes to the candle procession, from the Igreja Matriz and, in the animation, dancing with the “Duo Reflexo” and the Arutla dance show, at 22:30.
On Monday the 14th, the celebrations continue! The “Acordeanima” perform the dance and, at 22:00, the “Adiafa” animate the party.
On the 15th of August, Tuesday, the ex-libris of religious celebrations takes place with the Procession in Honor of N. Sra. of the Martyrs.
Hundreds of people join in procession through the streets of the village, in an expressive manifestation of faith in honor of the patron saint of Castro Marim. Religious celebrations begin at 17:30 pm, with the recitation of the rosary, followed by a solemn mass at 18:00 pm.
The Procession in Honor of N. Sra. dos Mártires leaves the Igreja Matriz at 19 pm.
This will also be the day of the 5th edition of the annual “Nelson Solá” futsal tournament, scheduled for 9:30 am, at the Municipal Pavilion, in a posthumous tribute from Castromarinense to the former player.
On this last day of festivities, there will be a dance with Ângelo Correia, starting at 20 pm, followed by a concert by Fernando Daniel.
The Festivals in Honor of Nossa Senhora dos Mártires are organized by the Municipality of Castro Marim and the Parish of São Tiago and are supported by Local Clubs and Associations.
