Ana Cabecinha qualifies for the Olympic Games in the 20 km walk

In her seventh appearance at the World Championships, the CO Pechão walker surpassed the mark set at 01:29.20 hours

Ana Cabecinha, athlete from the Clube Oriental de Pechão (Olhão), achieved today, August 20, the qualifying mark for the Paris2024 Olympic Games in the 20 kilometer walk, with a time of 01:28.49 hours, which earned her ninth place in the race World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

In her seventh appearance at World Championships, the 39-year-old CO Pechão walker surpassed the mark set at 01:29.20 hours, becoming the fourth athlete in the modality with a qualifying mark, after Auriol Dongmo, in the launch of the weight, Isaac Nader, in the 1.500 meters, and João Coelho, in the 400.

In addition to the four national athletics representatives, four Olympic spots are already assured in swimming, three in sailing, one in cycling and another in surfing.
