Albufeira receives painting by George Landmann and new artists in the galleries

The galleries are open from Monday to Saturday, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 13:30 pm to 17:30 pm

The month of August will be marked by the various exhibitions in the galleries of the municipality of Albufeira, which receives paintings by George Landmann and new artists. 

Taking place at the Pintor Samora Barros Art Gallery, from the 4th to the 29th of August, it will be possible to discover “The Art of Maramgoní”, a title that contains the name of the Brazilian artist, who has more than 100 collective exhibitions in different parts of the world. world, such as the National Salon of Fine Arts of France, Bienal de Gaia, UN - United Nations Organization, Banco do Brasil, among others. His works are also present in large private and state collections, such as the Government Palace Collection in São Paulo, the UN-United Nations Organization in New York, the Banco do Brasil Collection, the Telephone Museum and the Maurício de Sousa Foundation.

From the 11th of August to the 9th of September, the João Bailote Municipal Gallery hosts the painting exhibition “Cabeça nas Nuvens”, by Guilherme Limão. The artist currently works and lives in the Algarve. On canvas, he uses fabric, paper or wood, using acrylic paints to create compositions ranging from the figurative to the abstract.

The artist has participated in several national exhibitions and his works are present in private collections in countries such as the Netherlands, Ireland, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

The third highlight of this month is the exhibition “Portugal”, by George Landmann. The exhibition, comprising 30 works, will open on the Municipality Day, 20 August, at the Municipal Museum of Archeology in the county, and will run until 30 January next year.

 

 

In the collection of George Thomas Landmann (1780-1854), a young Lieutenant Colonel of the “Corps of Royal-Engineers”, include two paintings of Albufeira, worked in watercolor. These paintings were published in 1853, in London, by J. Hill, at the typographic company T. Cadell & W. Davies, one of them alluding to the coast and the other to the countryside of Albufeira.

The reproductions, which can be seen at the Museum, were created from the originals, and are the image of Portugal at the beginning of the XNUMXth century as seen by a well-traveled foreigner curious about the reality of the world he visits.

Furthermore, on the 5th of August, the ceramic exhibition “Variações
about a Dream”, by Nelson Martins, and, until the 22nd of September, the photographic exhibition by João Fazenda “Albufeira, a Journey to the Past”, in the Cultural Extension Room of the Historical Archive.

The galleries are open from Monday to Saturday, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 13:30 pm to 17:30 pm. The Historical Archive, from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 13:30 pm to 17:00 pm, and the Museum, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:30 am to 17:30 pm, closed on Mondays.
