Kitesurfers seriously injured in Ria de Alvor transported by helicopter to hospital

Victims are all of Polish nationality

Two Poles were seriously injured yesterday afternoon and a third suffered minor injuries, while practicing kitesurfing in the Ria de Alvor. The two seriously injured were transported to the hospital by the INEM helicopter.

According to the National Maritime Authority, following an alert received at 17:03 pm yesterday, the 25th, elements of the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Portimão, as well as the Portuguese Red Cross and the Volunteer Firefighters of Portimão went to the site. A team from INEM's Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicle (VMER) was also sent.

The two victims in a more serious condition were initially assisted and stabilized by the Fire Department, and were then transported by helicopter to the hospital.

The third victim, a 13-year-old boy with minor injuries, was also transported to the hospital, but by the Portimão Fire Department.
