On the 7th and 8st of July

About 7 thousand people passed through the terraces of Faro, on the 7th and 8th of July, in the 2nd edition of Açoteia – Faro Rooftop Festival.

In a balance to the festival, which passed through 35 roof terraces in the city, the Chamber of Deputies Faro highlighted the "remarkable growth, in terms of the public, entities and spaces involved" in this year's edition of the festival, whose "great novelty" was "the inclusion of terraces of private houses, which opened to the public, thus enhancing the community life".

«In addition, 15 local associations were involved, with the organization having 200 employees. Over the two days of the Festival, more than 70 initiatives took place, which resulted in approximately 130 actions», added the municipality.

Some of these were developed by partners of the European Network of Açoteias Criativas (ECRN European Creative Rooftop Network, a project supported by the Creative Europe program of the European Union), with the shows being co-produced by the Municipality of Faro.

Within this programme, the Chamber highlights the opening of the exhibition “Catalog Açoteia” (in Praça da Liberdade, Pontinha), “which shows the potential of using these spaces and conversations were held with national and international specialists on these topics”.

A painting by the Belgian artist Larsen Bervoets, carried out together with volunteers from Faro. This play is being performed in six cities in Europe, and in Faro, can be seen from planes when approaching the airport for landing.
