Diocese of Algarve celebrates Grandparents' Day at Mãe Soberana

The theme of this pilgrimage will be “From generation to generation, his mercy”

The Diocese of the Algarve will celebrate Grandparents and Elderly Day with a pilgrimage, on the 26th of July, to the Sanctuary of the Sovereign Mother, in Loulé.

The program begins with the reception of pilgrims and their accommodation, followed, at 15:30 pm, by the recitation of the mysteries of the rosary.

The mass is scheduled for 16 pm, presided over by the Bishop of the Algarve, D. Manuel Neto Quintas.

The theme of this pilgrimage will be “From generation to generation, his mercy”, proposed by Pope Francis.

This pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of the Sovereign Mother is an initiative of the Diocesan Department of Social Pastoral, to which grandparents and the elderly of the parish communities are invited, and especially those who attend the Homes for the Elderly, the Day Centres, the Services of Home Support and other valences of the Social Institutions of the Church, Misericórdias, Parochial Social Centers, Caritas and other Movements/Ecclesial Services.

The pilgrimage will also be a festive opportunity for grandparents and the elderly to visit the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Piedade — Mãe Soberana.

The organization requests that the number of pilgrims of each group/institution be indicated until the 21st of July, via e-mail: [email protected], in order to be able to reserve seats for the elderly.
