“Libertar a Memória” cinema cycle continues to unsettle at the Fortress of Sagres

On the 22nd, the curatorship will be in charge of Luca Argel

the movie cycle free the memory continues on July 22, Saturday, at 17:30 pm, with the Brazilian films «Babás» (2010), a 20-minute documentary by Consuelo Lins, and «What time does she come back?» (2015), by Anna Muylaert. Admission is free but pre-booking is required, via email [email protected].

O cycle is promoted by the Cineclube de Faro at the Fortress of Sagres, with the artistic coordination of Luísa Baptista, as part of the DiVaM program – Dynamization and Enhancement of Monuments 2023, with the support of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.

O cycle free the memory takes place once a month, always on Saturdays, at 17 pm, during the months of June to September, making up four sessions, with free admission.

«Through the choices of a group of guest curators, we will address the theme (un)comfortable Heritage of DiVaM 2023, with the contributions of Gisela Casimiro, Luca Argel, Suzano Costa and Kitty Furtado, who, each month, will be responsible for the content to show», points out the Cineclube.

In focus will be «themes such as (de)colonization, slavery, social segregation, places and identities, forms of organization, social and cultural dichotomies, here in a plurality of perspectives and alternating visions of fragmentary issues of society, which in the light of current events, suggest that perhaps the story is not so well told», he adds.

There will also be a literary curatorship under the responsibility of Marta Tecla and the Buala project – books chosen to «frame, challenge and open new paths» and that can be purchased in each session.
