Green flag is hoisted again on Olhos de Água beach «still today»

The source of the source of pollution, it seems, was maritime

The ban on bathing on Olhos de Água beach, decreed yesterday, Thursday, was lifted today, July 28, «at 12:23 pm», revealed the captaincy of the Port of Portimão.

The green flag can be flown again in this bathing area following new analyzes of sea water, which revealed that the microbiological values are within the required quality standards, it had already revealed to the Sul Informação José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira.

«I have already been informed by the regional health delegate that the new analyzes did not show anything and that the ban has now been lifted. The information is already being passed on to the different entities», so that the green flag is hoisted again, said the mayor, something that has already happened.

What is not known is the origin of the source of pollution detected in the analyzes that led the Health delegate to ban the beach. At issue was the presence of fecal coliforms, associated with wastewater discharges, commonly known as sewage.

What is certain is that "no terrestrial origin was detected", which points to the cause being, as often happens in these situations, a discharge into the sea, probably from a passing boat.

This was, moreover, the probable cause of another outbreak detected this week, which led to the banning of the beaches of Quarteira and Vale de Lobo, banning raised the next morning, after further analyzes.

(Updated at 13:13 pm with information from the Captaincy of Portimão that the ban on bathing has been removed)
