Albufeira delivers a van to the Parish of Guia to transport students

This van will carry seven children daily at a time.

On the morning of this Wednesday, July 19th, the Albufeira Council delivered a van to the parish of Guia that will transport students to school.

The vehicle is covered by the Interadministrative Agreement for the Delegation of Competences and represents an investment of more than 50 thousand euros.

This van will transport seven children daily at a time.

The Parish of Guia «has been witnessing an increase in the child population, so in the next school year, when this van starts operating, we will have about 750 children, fifty more than in the previous school year», he says. Dinis Nascimento, President of the Parish Council of Guia.

The parish has school establishments from kindergarten to third cycle basic education, and currently the most pressing need in the school field is «proceed with the expansion works of the Kindergarten of Vale Rabelho», says the mayor, adding that the difficulties they concern those children who can no longer be in day care centers, but who do not have places in kindergartens.

According to José Carlos Rolo, the «Câmara Municipal de Albufeira is committed to ensuring that the county’s schools have all the conditions to accommodate this increase in students, as well as for teachers and other auxiliary staff to carry out their duties with the required quality, as is the case of this van, which will have a licensed driver for the purpose at the expense of the Parish Council».

As for the expansion of the school park, the Mayor points out that, «soon, we will launch another series of new works, among which the expansion of the Kindergarten of Vale Rabelho, along with other kindergartens, such as Ferreiras, Correeira and Caliços, as well as in other school equipment, namely the Secondary School and the Francisco Cabrita School».

The mayor guarantees that the projects for these school establishments «will move forward as soon as there is funding, so we are counting on some funds from the PRR».
