Here comes another edition of the “Lagos Entrepreneur” program

Protocol signed between the University of Algarve and the Júlio Dantas and Gil Eanes School Groupings

The 2nd edition of the “Lagos Entrepreneur” program will move forward, reveals the Lagos municipality after the last council meeting, where the protocol was signed with the University of the Algarve and the Júlio Dantas and Gil Eanes School Groupings.

After a first edition – launched in the 2018/2019 school year, which involved the participation of five secondary school classes at Escola Secundária Júlio Dantas and gave rise to the development of 67 business ideas from different areas, ten of which were presented to the jury and evaluated – the “Lagos Empreendedor” program will continue with a second edition in which both schools will participate.

According to the municipality, a universe of eight classes, 125 students and their teachers is expected.

The project, which will be promoted in this new stage until the end of the 2024/2025 school year, consists of an education program for entrepreneurship developed by CRIA (Division of Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer of the University of Algarve), which «seeks to stimulate entrepreneurial skills in secondary education students in the municipality of Lagos, promoting entrepreneurship among the educational community (students, parents and teachers) and actively involving parents in the academic path of their children and in the organizational culture of the school establishment», explains Câmara de Lagos .

In addition, the program aims to «develop and provide pedagogical materials to support the implementation of the methodology designed and train teachers and the governing body to implement the education project for entrepreneurship».

The set of sessions to be promoted will address, among others, content related to “Entrepreneurial Skills”, “Social Entrepreneurship”, “Emergence of the business idea”, “Steps for creating companies”, “Intellectual property” and “ Marketing and Communication”.

This project is one of several initiatives foreseen in the Great Options of the Plan to promote the economic development of the county and build a diversified, dynamic, innovative local economy, capable of generating jobs, spreading economic growth, promoting entrepreneurship and finding the best resource management solutions.

In addition to encouraging entrepreneurship in the municipality, the Chamber invested in municipal services to support investors and entrepreneurs, examples of which are the Espaço Empresa service desk, Fábrica do Empreendedor and Colagos, a municipal cowork space (collaborative work).
