For the president of the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection, the implementation of this Air Resources Center is “further proof that nothing can be done in this country without collaboration, revealing the fundamental help of local authorities”.

«It was the mayor who moved forward and the fact is that the Center is in sight», he continued, highlighting the record time in which the space was transformed and operationalized with the effort of the Municipality and its collaborators.

«We are proud to be able to participate in this solution», underlined, in turn, Vítor Guerreiro, mayor of São Brás de Alportel.

«Currently we are living in very complex times that confront us with climate change, lack of water, extreme temperatures and we have to prepare to prevent», he said, pointing out that in the scope of prevention the Municipality invests annually more than 700 thousand euros distributed by 23 axes of action carried out through partnerships.

Prevention work is carried out throughout the year with the execution of fuel management lanes to protect the road network and clusters, as well as the creation of water points, maintenance and expansion of the forest road network and actions raising public awareness, which is a vital partner in preventing incidents.
