Navy detects but fails to catch narco-speedboat off the Algarve coast

The frigate D. Francisco de Almeida, while surveying Portuguese territorial waters, detected today, the 12th, a high-speed vessel «behaving suspiciously, having seized about 30 fuel jerricans that were dropped into the sea» by that speedboat.

The material dropped overboard was collected by the crew of the Portuguese Navy ship.

Elements of the high-speed vessel, which the Navy admits to be "probably related to drug trafficking", managed to escape,
