Majority of members of the board of directors of the Football Association of the Algarve renew functions

Elections took place on Friday night

The Clubs and Referees Nucleus Affiliated to the Algarve Football Association (AFA) elected, this Friday night, at the Headquarters of the Institution, the new Governing Bodies for the four-year period 2023-2027, with the president, vice-presidents and the majority of the members of the Board to renew their functions after four years, according to them, «marked by positive results, in terms of sport and finance».

With 99,4% of the votes in favour, the electoral act proved to be very well attended, with contributions also being made by CDR Quarteirense, CF Esperança de Lagos, FC Ferreiras, GD Lagoa, JS Campinense, Louletano DC, LGC Moncarapachense, Portimonense Futebol SAD, Portimonense SC, Silves FC, SC Farense, SC Farense – Algarve Futebol SAD, SC Olhanense and SC Olhanense – Futebol SAD, in addition to the three Arbitration Nuclei: NAFAM, NAFJF and NAFSA.

The most recent Board of Directors of the AFA, elected in a single list subscribed by all the Affiliates, something that happened for the first time in the centenary history of the Association, promises «to continue to strengthen the base of Football, Futsal, Beach Soccer and Arbitration in region and to invest in programs that provide all children and young people with the opportunity to practice these sports, with a special focus on the growth of the female side».

Among the various projects that the management team intends to promote, is the beginning of the development of a sports academy and a certified training academy, the creation of a legal department to advise the activity of the AFA, as well as the clubs themselves, or the start of the requalification and modernization process of the headquarters building.

The continuous approximation to Schools, the School Awakening and Private Institutions of Social Solidarity, as well as the development of joint work with the business fabric as a whole and, mainly, tourism, are still objectives of the newly appointed management.

«To make institutions more aware of the importance of practicing sports, particularly at formative age, both physically and psychologically, and to reinforce the economic impact that Football, Futsal and Beach Football, in all their variants, have established targets for the Algarve and for the country», explains the AFA in a note.

In addition, it shows openness to the possible integration of other sports in the AFA – as is happening with Walking Football – to organize more competitions, tournaments and sporting events, with a focus on qualitative improvement and always with active participation and contribution of the Clubs and in close collaboration with the Municipalities and Parish Councils of the region, the partners, the CCDR Algarve, the Algarve Tourism Region, the University of the Algarve, ISMAT, the entire school community, the Portuguese Football Federation , Liga Portugal and the Regional Directorate of the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, among other regional and national institutions.

The management, led by Reinaldo Teixeira, will continue to establish an open and constant dialogue, listening to the ideas, suggestions and concerns of all Members whose social work and public service they provide to the community have increasingly assumed an extremely relevant role. .

The inauguration of the new Governing Bodies of the Associação de Futebol do Algarve is scheduled for this Monday, the 26th, at 19 pm, at the Institution's Headquarters, in Faro.
