To mark the 30th anniversary of the parish, which was celebrated on the 11th of June, Altura inaugurated two green spaces in the surroundings of the Council building, with urban furniture and decorative elements that are linked to the history of the locality.
During the solemn session, Francisco Amaral, mayor of Castro Marim, lamented the bureaucratic constraints that "have stopped the progress of important works for Alturenses, but which are now finally moving forward, as is the case with the construction of the park
infantile».
Also at the table for the solemn session were the president of the Parish Council of Altura Fernanda Sousa, the president of the Municipal Assembly of Castro Marim João Fernandes and the president of the Assembly of the Parish Council of Altura António Gomes, who made a point of recalling the dynamism of the people from Heights and the history of this parish, «which are reflected in the conquests of the Clube Recreativo Alturense or in the construction of equipment such as the Municipal Market, the Church of Altura or, more recently, the Passadiço de Altura».
In these celebrations, the tourist and economic development potential of Altura was also highlighted, job creation, which is linked to the installation of luxury hotel units, the requalification of Rua da Alagoa, the construction of a Multipurpose Pavilion, the improvement and requalification of the eastern part of Avenida 24 de Junho, in Altura, and the connection of the Altura Walkway to that of Monte Gordo.
At the end of the ceremony, the Parish Council provided its citizens with the presentation of the play “Art' Ri-te”, by the amateur theater group of the Center for Culture and Sports of the Municipality of Castro Marim.
