Vítor Hugo Graça, born in Olhão and resident in Faro, MTB athlete from Clube Conceição de Faro, was crowned this Sunday, June 11, European Champion of MTB Marathons Master 55.

Current leader of the Portuguese Cup in MTB Marathons, at the Master 55 level, let slip the much-desired national champion's jersey when he had to give up because he didn't feel well in the middle of the National Championship race that took place on May 7 in Castro Daire , but fate reserved the best for last. The Portuguese Cup is made up of five competitions and two are left until the end of the year.

Vítor Hugo Graça (MTB Conceição de Faro/Algarve Bike Challenge) headed last week towards Laissac – Aveyron, France, to participate in the European Championship, accompanied by his biggest fan and supporter, his wife, who he calls “princess”, because, on the day of the race, celebrated another wedding anniversary.

44 athletes from Portugal took part, since, in addition to the national team, many Portuguese athletes competed in the event representing their national clubs.

In the category of the Algarve athlete, of the 25 registered athletes from various countries, 19 completed the race, with a distance of 64 kilometers and an altimetry of 1882 meters.

He crossed the finish line in the highest position on the podium with a time of 3h38m04s, 3m20s from Spaniard Pere Joan Roig Gomà and 5m02s from another Portuguese athlete Reinaldo Luís, who reached the bronze medal.
