The deputies of the Commission for Public Administration, Spatial Planning and Local Power got to know the work being carried out at the Centro de Experimentação Agrária de Tavira and the collection of traditional fruit trees that exists there, during a visit that they carried out yesterday, the 9th, to this branch of the Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Algarve.
Pedro Valadas Monteiro, regional director of Agriculture and Fisheries, made known «the work carried out by DRAP Algarve at its Centro de Experimentação Agrária de Tavira (CEAT), a unique agro-environmental space, due to the vast collection of traditional Mediterranean fruit trees preserved here and studied", according to the DRAP.
Projects currently in progress were also presented, namely those financed under the PRR – Terra Futura, which includes «the creation of the Innovation Hub linked to the Mediterranean Diet and the lines of research and experimentation aimed at some of the great challenges it faces Algarve agriculture, namely adaptation to climate change».
Deputies also had the opportunity to visit the exhibition “Posto Agrário de Tavira”, recently inaugurated in this space.
This was yet another crossing point in a program prepared by AMAL – Comunidade Intermunicipal do Algarve, in areas considered a priority for the region, such as Water Efficiency, Spatial Planning, Housing and Economic Diversification, Decentralization of Skills and Forests.
«Get to know the reflections that the various local political representatives present as priorities and, at the same time, visit Public Administration services, local authorities, or even companies, that prove to be examples of excellence, for example, in digital innovation solutions, in the application of community funds with the creation or enhancement of jobs and/or in structuring projects for territorial cohesion», were the objectives of the AMAL program.
