Algarve students get to know the “Legend of Europe” at Teatro Lethes

Session forms part of Europe Day celebrations

The Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra will present this Friday, May 19th, the “Legend of Europe” to schools in the Algarve, at Teatro Lethes, in Faro.

Half of the room, which is already full, will be filled with 9th grade students from Aljezur and Alcoutim, two municipalities in the interior of the region. The initiative has the support of the Coordination and Regional Development Commission (CCDR) of the Algarve and Europe Direct.

Conducted by conductor Osvaldo Ferreira (former conductor of Orquestra do Algarve), the Orquestra Filarmónica Portuguesa presents a world premiere of a musical piece by Sara Ross, with text by Alexandre Honrado, interpreted by narrator/baritone Miguel Maduro Dias and by soprano Ana Maria Pinto.

This play also has sessions, open to the public, scheduled for Friday, May 19th, and Saturday, May 20th, both at 21 pm.
