Algarve had this year the highest occupancy in April since 1996

The occupancy rate per room across the region was around 70%

The Algarve had in April the highest occupancy rate per room since 1996, in this month of the year, announced today, Monday, May 8, the Association of Hotels and Tourist Enterprises of the Algarve.

According to provisional data for April 2023, the room occupancy rate was 68,5%, «3,3 percentage points (pp) above that verified in 2019 and 6,3pp above that verified in the same month of 2022».

Compared to last year, «the markets that most contributed to the increase were the Irish with +2,6pp and the British with +1,8pp».

By geographical area, the biggest increases compared to 2019 occurred in the areas of Vilamoura / Quarteira / Quinta do Lago (+8,2pp), Carvoeiro / Armação de Pêra (+7,8pp) and Monte Gordo / Vila Real de Santo António (+7,6pp).
