São Brás de Alportel hosts International Symposium on Literary Tourism

The event is organized by LIT&TOUR, Research Group in Literature and Tourism of the Center for Research in Arts and Communication of the University of Algarve

The international symposium “Methodologies of Literature and Tourism and Literary Tourism” will take place this Friday, April 14, from 9:00 am to 16:30 pm, in the Main Hall of the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel.

The event is organized by LIT&TOUR, Literature and Tourism Research Group of the Center for Research in Arts and Communication at the University of Algarve.

This symposium will be attended by a group of specialists who have developed and promoted activities of excellence in this area, sharing with students, researchers, mayors and tourism professionals the methodologies they use.

The opening session, scheduled for 9:00 am, will feature interventions by Marlene Guerreiro, vice-president of the São Brás de Alportel Chamber, and Sílvia Quinteiro, responsible for Tourism and Heritage and the Coordinator of the Lit & Tour Group.

At 9:30 am, Sérgio Donizete Faria, Diomira Faria and Marlette Menezes, from the University of Minas Gerais (Brazil), will address the theme: “From cartography to literary tourism”.

“The construction of a literary itinerary: from design to tourist and teaching applications” is the theme that specialists Pere Quer and Jordi Chumillas from the Central University of Catalonia will reflect on at 10:00 am.

At 10 am, Nuno Cacilhas, coordinator of the Literary Route Raised from the Ground, from the Municipality of Montemor-o-Novo, will present the “Literary Route Raised from the Ground: Methodologies for the design and promotion of products and literary tourism”, while Maria Mota Almeida (ESHTE – Estoril/ IHC Nova Lisboa / CIAC -UAlg), will give the presentation “Path(s) taken(s): methodological contributions to research/action in Literary Tourism”, at 30:11 am.

The University of Valencia will also be present at this meeting with the intervention “Application of new technologies in the design of literary routes, an educational and tourist project for the Mediterranean landscape” that Alexandre Bataller will deliver at 12:00.

In the afternoon, starting at 14 pm, participants will have the opportunity to participate in a Literary Walk through São Brás de Alportel.
