Applications have already been opened for 8 plots in the urban gardens of Loulé

Applications run until May 17

Applications for the 8 plots of Hortas Urbanas de Loulé opened this Monday, April 17th, and run until May 17th.

The municipality thus opens up the equipment to new users who express an interest in cultivating a little land and obtaining fresh agricultural products for self-consumption.

Applications can be made by filling in the application form, which is available at website of the Municipality, where it is also possible to consult the regulation of the functioning of the Urban Gardens.

«With the price of food products, namely fruit and vegetables skyrocketing over the last few months, these vegetable gardens could be an important support for families in the municipality with greater socioeconomic vulnerability», says the municipality.

On the other hand, Urban Vegetable Gardens are considered «an element that promotes organic farming, relevant for improving the environmental sustainability of the urban space and the balance of the city landscape», continues the Chamber, reinforcing the role that this equipment has in social cohesion and in strengthening neighborhood and community values.

The use of the Urban Gardens of Loulé will be completely free, but requires compliance with the established rules, the correct use of the available resources and a healthy coexistence between the users.

The water used to irrigate the plots comes from Bicas Velhas.
