Silves Library marks 15th anniversary with poem and play

Library was inaugurated on April 23, 2008

The Municipal Library of Silves, inaugurated on April 23, 2008, marks its 15th anniversary, associating itself with the celebrations of World Book Day, with a poem and a play.

The festivities will be marked with “March” – Poem by Alice Neto de Sousa, which will be presented at 15 pm on the 30rd in the Library.

Alice Neto de Sousa has yet to publish any book, but she has become a phenomenon of popularity on social networks after reciting a poem about racism on the program “Bem-Vindos”, on RTP Africa. She has now accepted the Commission's invitation to the Commemorations of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April, to create an original poem about democracy.

On the same day, but at 16 pm, the Silves Library presents “April 00th, always!” – History of the Carnation Revolution, by Teatro ABC.

It is a Portuguese theater play, with a historical, pedagogical, contemporary and interactive component, written by Nuno Miguel Henriques, professor and cultural creator, with university studies in History and son of Militar de Abril, who will be present in the shows and makes a «prologue on the recent history of the country».
