Algarvio André Boto distinguished as European Photographer of the Year

"It was exciting and mind-blowing 13 years ago and it's just as exciting today"

The Algarve photographer André Boto was distinguished by the FEP – Federation of Professional European Photographers, as “European Photographer of the Year”.

The awards ceremony took place at the RockOpera Theater, in Prague (Czech Republic), in a tight competition until the end, according to the president of judges Johan Brouwers.

André Boto became the first Portuguese to win this distinction twice (he had already been awarded in 2010).

André Boto, a «versatile and talented photographer«, says the organization, also got the podium in three different categories, with the victory in “Illustrative”, second place in “Digital Art”, and third place in “Commercial”.

In a post on his social networks, the photographer has already reacted to the distinction of photographer of the year.

"It was exciting and mind-blowing 13 years ago and it's just as exciting today," he said.

More than 300 European photographers participated in this competition this year, with images distributed across 12 different competition categories, which were evaluated by a panel of 30 judges.

In addition to André Boto, the Portuguese Miguel Ponte and Luís Godinho also won in the “Wedding” and “Reportage” categories.
