The Quarteto do Barlavento will give a concert with Petra Vahle-Francis, founder of the group “Solistes Europeens, Luxembourg”, at Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório, in Silves, on Saturday, March 25, at 20:00.
The classical music program features some of Mozart's most famous works, the Stringquartett KV 525 (Eine Kleine Nachtmusik) and the String Quartet KV 516. It will be in this last work that the interpretation of the violist Petra Vahle-Francis will be given.
The program will also include Shostakovich's Waltz No. 2 and a piece by Cristóvão Silva, composer from Portimão, called “Recuerdos de Buenos Aires”. Each part will last about 40 minutes.
Bernhard Schlunder, violinist of the group, is the president of the Clube dos Rotatários da Praia da Rocha. He has performed as a soloist in string quartets, in the Algarve International Orchestra (AIO) and in the Barlavento Ensemble.
On viola d'arco will be Christel Schlunder, who has also performed in concerts with AIO, in Orquestra Médica Ibérica (OMI) and in string quartets.
Petra Axt-Adam, on violin, was a member of the Quarteto do Barlavento in 2021. The violinist also performs in the two aforementioned orchestras, having been, in Holland, a member of Rotterdam's Youth Orchestra and Baroque Orchestra de Gouda.
Daniela Zlatkin, on cello, joined the Quarteto do Barlavento in 2021. Since arriving in the Algarve, in 2020, she has been part of the Algarve Camarata and the Orquestra Sinfónica do Algarve. She has played with various orchestras in Israel and the Netherlands, has conducted youth orchestras and taken over two music schools.
The concert is promoted by the Rotary Club of Silves. The Theater will open its doors at 19 pm to welcome the public, with snacks and drinks before the start of the show, which will take place at 00 pm.

The funds raised are intended for the “Education” project, supported by the Clube dos Rotatários de Silves.
The educational projects supported in local schools by the Silves Rotary Club «provide students with resources and experiences to better understand the world, as well as to develop self-esteem and maximize opportunities».
The Rotary Club of Silves claims to be “intensively committed to promoting events that collect funds to support extracurricular activities. This is the case of the concert on the 25th of March.
