Young artists exhibit “Sopro” in Quarteira

The exhibition will be on display at the Praça do Mar Art Gallery between the 11th of March and the 29th of April

The exhibition “Sopro”, by the artists C.atarina Figueiredo and Rita Borralho Silva, will be open to the public at the Praça do Mar Art Gallery, in Quarteira, between the 11th of March and the 29th of April.

Within the scope of open call aimed at young visual artists for an Artistic Residency, which took place during the month of January, launched by the association Alfaia – arte e Comunidade, with the support of the Municipality of Loulé, Catarina and Rita were selected.

C.atarina Figueiredo presented the project “Respiraestórias”, for which the artist invited a group of women residing in the municipality of Loulé to participate through an act of sharing around their experiences on the act of breathing.

Rita Borralho Silva, on the other hand, proposed the project “Baile Fogo”, which departed from the traditional Corridinho. This is an artistic research project that aims to analyze dance as a document of cultural and individual identity, revealing history through a moving body, and becoming political when used as a voice.

C.atarina and Rita brought together their projects, among themselves and with the community, which are now presented in Quarteira using video and sound installations that transform the gallery space.

The opening of the exhibition is scheduled for 18:00 on the 11th. Visiting hours are from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00.
