Praia da Falésia, in Albufeira, was elected by TripAdvisor's Travelers Choice Awards, the sixth best beach in the world, being the only Portuguese representative in the top 10.
Praia da Falésia is defined in the comment of one of the users as «a stunning beach, with the sun hitting the different shades of orange and yellow sand of the cliffs that reflect a warm color».
In the top 10 there are only two more beaches in Europe: Reynisfjara, in Iceland, which appears in fourth place, and Spiaggia dei Conegli, in Italy, in eighth place.
José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira, is very pleased that the beach, which has been a favorite among visitors for years, continues to rank among the best in the world, «which reflects its undeniable natural beauty, but also the constant effort of the municipality and the entities responsible for the coastline to maintain the levels of environmental quality and the conditions for safe bathing”.
