Two more high-speed boats suspected of having links to drug trafficking were seized, in a joint operation between the National Maritime Authority (AMN), the Portuguese Navy and the Portuguese Air Force carried out yesterday, the 23rd, in the afternoon, in international waters south of Algarve.

In the same action, seven men were identified, five of Moroccan nationality and two of Spanish nationality, the crew of the two seized vessels.

A Portuguese Air Force aircraft detected two vessels, «having verified that they did not have an identification set, name, or flag».

This led to its being apprehended and its crew taken to Faro, to be identified, «as a precautionary measure».

There were still 58 empty fuel jerricans on board.

The approach to the suspects was carried out "by two high-speed vessels, one belonging to the Maritime Police, and another from the Portuguese Navy, operated by Marines".

The Public Ministry was contacted for further steps.
