Cortelha: Another brandy and honey fair is coming

The fairgrounds of Feira da Água e Mel are scheduled to open at 12h00, on the 11th of March

The Spirits and Honey Fair returns this Saturday, March 11, to the Polidesportivo da Cortelha, in the interior of the municipality of Loulé, to present the products of Serra do Caldeirão.

«This initiative intends to highlight and value two products of excellence from the Algarve mountains, traditionally produced with great dedication and mastery, and which still continue, today, to be very relevant both in terms of social and economic dynamics, and in terms of tourist projection of the Algarve interior, the brandy and honey», says the Association of Friends of Cortelha, organizer of the event.

The program starts at 9:00 am, with a pedestrian walk of about 10 kilometers in length, along the trails in the area, passing by medronho distilleries.

Walkers will also have the possibility to visit the boilers in full operation and watch live the distillation of the precious nectar, which is usually done at this time of year.

The opening of the Feira da Água e Mel is scheduled for 12h00 and will receive at 14h00 the animation of the “Duo Folegarve”. The “Garvefole” Orchestra takes the stage at 16:30 pm.

Folklore will be present with the performance of Rancho ”As Mondadeiras das Barrosas”, at 18:30. In the evening there is a Ball with Ruben Filipe, starting at 20:00.

The main local producers of brandy and honey will be present at the Fair, as well as farmers and artisans.

The organization is in charge of the Association of Friends of Cortelha, with the support of the Municipality of Loulé and the Parish Council of Salir.
