The Government approved this Thursday, March 2nd, at the decentralized Council of Ministers in Faro, the expense that will make it possible to build the new headquarters of the Judiciary Police (PJ) which will be in the former Escola Superior de Saúde, at the entrance to the Algarve capital.
This was one of the diplomas approved today, at the executive's meeting, and which was announced in the briefing to journalists by Mariana Vieira da Silva, Minister of the Presidency.
In “exchange”, the University of Algarve will receive the current headquarters of the PJ, in Vila Adentro, where there is the idea of creating a university residence for students.
So far, the former Escola Superior de Saúde has already received some works, namely in terms of the roof of the building, such as Sul Information he confirmed it at the site, where there are still plaques relating to these works.
According to Decree-Law No. 5/2021, published in 2021, this UAlg building, "according to its characteristics, is suitable for the function of headquarters of the Southern Directorate of the Judiciary Police".
The requalification work should cost around 5 million euros.
