Father and daughter launch first children's book in Portimão: «It's a dream come true»

The presentation will take place at the Portimão Library this Saturday, February 11, at 16 pm

The «draft» of the story was done as part of a homework assignment, but it was never put away in a drawer and, after restructuring, has now given rise to a book. “Saved for a cheese”, written by David Marques and Leonor Marques, father and daughter, was released on 18 January and will be officially presented at the Municipal Library of Portimão this Saturday, 11 February, at 16 pm.

«I always liked children's stories and having three daughters turned out to be an argument for, as an adult, to continue reading them. Since she was a little girl, Leonor has been going to the library and she has been in love with books, so much so that, when she learned to read, she immediately started to always have books on her bedside table », tells David Marques to Sul Informação.

David, who is a doctor, trained at the University of the Algarve and lives in Portimão, recalls that his daughter's wish was also to be able to write a book one day and, therefore, this is «the realization of a dream».

After making the decision to publish the book, they contacted a publisher that was interested in moving forward with the work and an illustrator (Mara Silva), who, with Leonor's indications, transferred the story to drawings.

Despite the presentation only taking place almost a month after the launch, David stresses that the book is already on sale in Portugal and Brazil and that «the feedback has been very good and has even exceeded expectations».

This was the first, but the doctor does not hide his desire to, together with his daughter, launch a new story next year.
