Book about plants, edible gardens and remedies presented in Loulé

The book, edited by Tinta da China, will be presented by Dália Paulo, municipal director of the Câmara de Loulé

The work “Food, Nature and Landscape – People, Plants, Edible Gardens, Mezinhas, Comidas, Oral Heritage”, coordinated by Maria Manuel Valagão, with texts by Maria Manuel Valagão, Maria Elvira Ferreira and José António Passarinho and photographs by Vasco Célio, will be presented this Saturday, February 11th, at 16 pm, at Palácio Gama Lobo.

The book, edited by Tinta da China, will be presented by Dália Paulo, municipal director of the Câmara de Loulé.

According to the Câmara de Loulé, «under a new look and with concrete proposals, this book explores the role of wild food, aromatic and medicinal plants both in food identity and in the conservation of biodiversity»,

At a time when it is imperative to protect ecosystems, “Food, Nature and Landscape” — authored by three scientists with experience in spontaneous flora conservation projects — «brings answers to the growing number of people who intend to make healthy choices in their own benefit and for the benefit of nature”.

From landscape to gastronomy, including edible gardens, this book combines knowledge of erudite culture and oral heritage, thus paying tribute to the people who have known how to preserve the knowledge of tradition: the conservation of species and food, culinary practices and, not least important, the simplicity and frugality to which it is imperative to return.
