Man accidentally fell into boat in open sea

A 50-year-old fisherman who fell and broke his leg while fishing, while sailing about four miles (approximately seven kilometers) south of the port of Baleeira, in Sagres, was rescued by members of the Sagres Lifeguard Station , this morning, Friday, February 3rd.

At 10:00 am, the local fishing vessel gave the alert that one of the fishermen had fallen.

Upon arrival at the fishing boat, the crew of the Lifesaving Station «proceeded with stabilizing and rescuing the victim, a man around 50 years old suspected of having broken one of his lower limbs, then transporting him to the port of Whaling».

The victim was later assisted in the port by elements of the Volunteer Firefighters of Vila do Bispo and transported to a hospital unit.

This action was coordinated by the captain of Porto and local commander of the Maritime Police of Lagos, in conjunction with the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisboa) and the Guidance Center for Urgent Patients at Sea (CODU- Sea).
