GNR arrested 34 people for driving under the influence of alcohol in the last week in the Algarve

In traffic, 711 violations were detected

The GNR arrested, between the 6th and the 12th of February, 74 people in the district of Faro, with 34 being blamed for driving under the influence of alcohol, 22 for driving without a legal license and four for drug trafficking. 

The operational activity aimed at «preventing and combating violent crime, road inspection, among others» also resulted in the seizure of 222 doses of cocaine, 119 doses of hashish, 14 doses of heroin, a shotgun, a pistol, five cell phones, two precision scales, tthree pneumatic hammers, an angle grinder, a drill and 3630 euros in cash.

In traffic, 711 violations were also detected: 259 for speeding, 49 for lack of mandatory periodical inspection, 35 for improper use of the cell phone while driving, 32 related to anomalies in the lighting and signaling systems, 31 for lack or incorrect use of the seat belt and/or child restraint system and 29 for lack of civil liability insurance.

There were also 115 accidents during this period, which resulted infour seriously injured and 14 minor injuries.

As 53 actions developed, sensitized 902 people under the Safe School Program and 215 people under the Safe Elderly Program.
