Faro approves new regulation for occasional camping in the county

Document stipulates the rules for carrying out «camps related to concerts», among others

Faro has since the 13th of February a new Municipal Regulation of Occasional Camping of Faro, the document that determines «the rules to be observed in the context of camping in places not suitable for its practice and the holding of related camps with concerts or other types of mass manifestation».

The version of the regulation that has now been approved replaces the one that had been in force since 2014, which had never been changed since then, and «seeks to follow, with regard to legal instruments, the experience gained, as well as the evolution of the social reality /municipal", according to the Chamber of Faro.

The document, which was approved on the 13th, "defines the ban on overnight stays and camping outside authorized and licensed spaces for that purpose, as well as the sanctions applicable in cases of administrative offences".

On the other hand, it intends to respond to a number of situations, such as «the obligation to practice camping only in sites and facilities duly licensed for the purpose and the consequent need for efficient supervision by the municipality, making it necessary, therefore, to regulate the conditions and rules relating to the practice of this activity».

These issues stem from the transfer of competences relating to the licensing of occasional camping sites to the municipalities and from the «obligation to obtain a license from the City Council to carry out occasional camping sites outside the suitable places for camping (preceded by a favorable opinion from the health authority and police authority).
