Moncarapacho Carnival is back, but this time it has no theme

The aim of the organization is «to leave space for the imagination of those responsible for the floats»

Carnival is back in Moncarapacho, between the 19th and 21st of February, this year without a theme.

In the year that celebrates 124 years, Carnival will have no theme «leaving room for the imagination of those responsible for the floats», says the Union of Parishes of Moncarapacho and Fuseta.

As is tradition, the cars are decorated with paper flowers, which involve – since the beginning of January – the collaboration of the local population in their making. This peculiarity gives the Carnival of Moncarapacho the nickname of “Battle of the Flowers”.

The corso has free entry, from 15 pm, and will feature 00 floats and 12 animation groups, mobilizing around 14 revelers in the parade, with over 500 people expected. The floats depict figures from children's imagination, the preservation of the biodiversity of marine species in the Ria Formosa and road safety, among other topics.

At the same time, from the 17th (Friday) to the 21st (Tuesday), with the support of the Union of Parishes of Moncarapacho and Fuseta, the Casa do Povo de Moncarapacho organizes the traditional masquerade balls, starting at 21 pm.

Moncarapacho Carnival is organized by the Union of Parishes of Moncarapacho and Fuseta, with the support of the Municipality of Olhão and with the collaboration of the local population.
