Project “Playing Safe Running Risks” continues this year with various activities

And it starts on the 28th of January

“Playing Safely Running Risks” returns this year for the 8th edition which starts at the next step, 28th January, between 10 am and 30 pm, in the western park of Marina de Albufeira.

With this initiative, the Municipality of Albufeira intends to encourage outdoor games, encourage socialization between children and adults, encourage a sense of community and respect for nature and public space.

José Carlos Rolo, mayor of the municipality, underlines that playing outdoors serves to stimulate the child in a sensory way, putting him in full contact with nature.

«It is important to grow up with the opportunity to climb trees and fall, roll on the ground, fight for fun», he says, stressing that by promoting outdoor activities and games, the Municipality intends to demonstrate that «there is no need to have specific materials or very elaborate, or even specific infrastructures, such as playgrounds, so that children can unleash their creativity and have fun playing».

Cláudia Guedelha, councilor responsible for the Education department, mentions, in turn, that «the physical, mental and social development of children needs new incentives in addition to technologies, which pass, above all, through playing outdoors, as a way of to stimulate creativity and promote coexistence between different generations».

The official stresses that the project “Playing Safely Running Risks” aims to boost skills such as trust, resilience and creativity.

The project contributes to promoting the sensory stimulation of the youngest, putting them in contact with nature and the urban environment, through playing old-fashioned games, organized as a family, in a relaxed way, but always with safety concerns assured.

The next activity is scheduled for the 25th of February, at a location to be announced.
