Municipality renews social component of the “Lagos Apoia” program

Until the end of the year

The City Council will renew the social support of the “Lagos Apoia” program, launched in 2020 to mitigate the economic and social impact caused by the pandemic.

This support has been renewed due to the socio-economic situation aggravated by the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis and the consequent rise in inflation.

In order to help families cope with the increase in the cost of living, the Lagos Chamber decided to renew, until the end of 2023, the expansion of the criteria for access to social support, the exemption from the payment of municipal rents, the maintenance the expansion of access conditions to benefit from support for private renting and, for the homeless population, the continuity of the distribution of meals.

What is new is the measure to reinforce the value of the municipality's scholarships, which, no longer taking into account the amount of any scholarships already awarded to students by the General Directorate of Higher Education, will now receive from the municipality the totality of the 250 euros monthly, for 10 months, and more immediately.

Within the scope of “Lagos Apoia 2023”, the municipality had already approved the reduction of taxes (IMI, IRS variable rate and decision not to launch the spill) up to its minimum possible limit, but, according to the information provided at a council meeting, other supports are being studied to reinforce these aids to families and companies in Lagos.
