Maria da Graça Ventura presents “By this sea into the sea” in Faro

The work will be presented by art historian Daniel Santana

The book “Across this sea – Successes and failures of seafarers and emigrants from the Algarve in Hispanic America”, by researcher Maria da Graça Ventura, will be presented on the 10th of January, starting at 18 pm, at the António Ramos Rosa Municipal Library, in Faro.

The work will be presented by art historian Daniel Santana.

The book recently received an award from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

Maria da Graça A. Mateus Ventura holds a PhD in Letters from the University of Lisbon (UL), integrated researcher at the Center for History at the same university, associate researcher at CHAM — Humanities Center at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, member of the Asociación Española de Americanistas and of the Association of European Latin American Historians.

She is co-founder (1995) and president of the Instituto de Cultura Ibero-Atlântica (ICIA). She was promoter of the Portuguese network for the Chair of Ibero-America History (OEI), visiting professor at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the University of Algarve and executive coordinator of the Chair of Ibero-American Studies.
