The Câmara de Lagos donated the facilities of the former Primary School of Almádena to C4M4 – Associação Cultural.
The building was deactivated and, according to the Câmara de Lagos, the association needed «a fixed space to consolidate the work it has been developing in the areas of creation, production and dissemination of performing arts».
C4M4 (or CAMA) was founded in 2017, by Daniel Matos and Joana Flor Duarte, with the intention of decentralizing artistic creation processes and stimulating the cultural offer outside the main national metropolitan centers.
Based in Lagos, it produced several creations, directed workshops in the context of the performative and visual areas, as well as shows and workshops linked to local communities. Of its still young, but fruitful path, it is also worth mentioning the monitoring of production to artists and other structures.
In its new “home”, C4M4 wants to build a base to continue developing this work, but intends to go further, intervening, as a cultural structure, in the fields of creation and dissemination, cultural programming, sustainability, education and development public and artistic residencies.
