2nd Algarve Breast Cancer Congress debates “sexuality and female health”

Event takes place on the 17th and 18th of February at the Hotel Vila Galé in Lagos

The 2nd Algarve Breast Cancer Congress, which will debate “women's sexuality and health”, will take place on the 17th and 18th of February, at the Hotel Vila Galé in Lagos, from 8:00 am to 18:00 pm, both in person and online. line (via zoom) and is promoted by Tecnifisio – Specialized Physiotherapy and Wellbeing.

The initiative aims to «address this condition in a multidisciplinary and biopsychosocial way, promoting empowerment and knowledge to all who are confronted with this disease».

«We believe that health literacy offers greater motivation and commitment to overcome the obstacles that cancer imposes, by demystifying taboos and deconstructing fears associated with the patient's entire journey», says the organization of the congress.

The Organizing Committee is made up of Tânia Camilo, physiotherapist and CEO of Tecnifisio – Specialized Physiotherapy and Wellbeing, Jacqueline Tavares, physiotherapist and coordinator of the oncology area of ​​Tecniphysio- Specialized Physiotherapy and Wellbeing, and Conceição Andrade, physiotherapist in the area of oncology at Saúde Estrutural Lisboa and collaborator at the Champalimaud Foundation.

 

 

The Scientific Committee is made up of Ana Paula Fontes, training consultant at Hospital Particular do Algarve and professor at the University of Algarve, David Pinto, breast surgeon at the Champalimaud Foundation, Gabriela Valadas, director of the Breast Center at Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve and Catarina Ribeiro, an oncologist at the AIM Cancer Center.

This initiative is aimed at all cancer patients, their families and caregivers, as well as health professionals who, even though they are not directly linked to the field of oncology, feel the need to deepen their knowledge in this area.
