UAlg and Orquestra Clássica do Sul celebrate anniversary with “Regresso à Origens” concert

Admission is free, subject to room capacity.

The commemorative concert for the Day of the University of the Algarve (UAlg) will take place next Sunday, 11 December, from 18 pm, at the Caixa Geral de Depósitos Grand Auditorium, on the Gambelas Campus.

The moment will also serve to mark the 20th Anniversary of Associação Musical do Algarve (AMA).

Under the motto “Return to Origins”, Orquestra Clássica do Sul will recreate the concert with which it debuted in 2002, in this same venue, in which the legacies of contemporary Portuguese composers such as Sérgio Azevedo and Luís Soldado are honored.

Under the direction of maestro Rui Pinheiro, the concert also counts on the presence of the Community Choir and the soprano Dora Rodrigues. Pieces by the following composers will be performed: Sérgio Azevedo (1968); Luís Soldado (1809-1847); F. Mendelssohn (1809-1847).

On the day of celebration, personalities relevant to the life of the Orchestra over these 20 years will also be honored.

Admission is free, subject to room capacity.
