The Council of Tavira signed, with the Federation of Hunters of the Algarve and 47 hunting clubs that operate in the municipality, a protocol for the installation and maintenance of annual pastures sown in a network of fuel management strips.

With this agreement, the municipality says it intends to "mobilize the game sector and its associative structures for greater integration in the prevention of rural fires, as well as for the creation of a landscape mosaic that contributes to the improvement of habitat and biodiversity".

In addition to 139 euros, the municipality also donated seeds for planting.

«The signing of this protocol will make it possible for all entities participating in self-protection systems for people and infrastructure to articulate, mobilizing the agricultural sector for the prevention and adoption of good practices, namely, execution and maintenance of fuel management lanes, renewal of pastures or agrosilvopastoral mosaics that are decisive for a more resilient, viable and value-generating territory», says the Câmara de Tavira.
