The Câmara de Silves renewed, in November, the collaboration protocol with Associação Vita Nativa – Conservation of the Environment to give continuity to the “Local Accommodation for Birds” project.
«Under this agreement, three dozen nest boxes were installed in the municipality of Silves for different groups of urban birds, thus encouraging the community's interest and more direct contact with birds», says the Câmara de Silves.
«With an occupancy rate approaching 50%, the presence of birds in at least one nest box installed in the Municipality’s 2nd and 3rd Cycles Basic Schools stands out, which from a pedagogical and awareness-raising point of view of the community for the conservation of biodiversity, presents an added value», he adds.
