Portimonense eliminated from the League Cup after home defeat against Gil Vicente

Portimonense was eliminated from the League Cup, after being defeated by Gil Vicente by 0-3, in a game counting for the 3rd round of the competition's group stage, played at Estádio Municipal de Portimão, today, December 14th .

Gil Vicente, who entered the game as leader of Group E, took the lead in the 45th minute, through Lucas Cunha, assisted by Murilo Souza.

Still, the visitors' goal could have come minutes earlier, but Nakamura saved a penalty scored by Fran Navarro.

In the second half, at the 63rd minute, Fujimoto extended the advantage of the Minho team to 0-2, with Murilo again being the loader.

And if Portimonense's chances of staying in the competition were almost nil, with the third goal by Gil Vicente, scored by Fran Navarro in the 86th minute, they disappeared completely.

With this result, Gil Vicente secured a place in the quarterfinals of the League Cup. Portimonense, on the other hand, finished in 3rd place in Group E, with 3 points in three games, behind Minho and Nacional.
