The victim was from the Hells Angels, but the homicide had "nothing to do" with the criminal group. The cause of death of Rui Silva, who was shot "at close range" in the neck and head, was "a reckoning" related to drug trafficking. That, at least, is the conviction of the Judiciary Police (PJ) who arrested five suspects in the early hours of this Friday, December 16: four men and one woman, between 35 and 48 years old.

All are related to the homicide and were arrested in the municipality of Faro, in an operation that brought together the PJ, the GNR and also the PSP.

The crime took place on December 2, in the Fonte Férrea area, in São Brás de Alportel, but the body was only found, by locals, two days later.

Speaking to journalists this Friday afternoon, Fernando Jordão, director of the PJ in the Algarve, explained that the suspects, with criminal records for trafficking and robbery, "knew the victim".

«They were people who moved in the same environment, with some connection with additions and trafficking», he added.

The authorities suspect that the crime, which was violent in nature, was "a reckoning, after an escalation of situations". The victim will have been attracted to the location.

According to Fernando Jordão, although Rui Silva belongs to the Hells Angels (he was one of the 89 arrested in the process involving this group), this homicide is «not related» to that case.

Incidentally, none of the detainees belong to the group.

The victim was under house arrest, with an electronic bracelet, for another case of thefts and robberies.

According to the director of the PJ, Rui Silva «would have cut the device about two weeks» before his death.

To reach this quick resolution of the case, Fernando Jordão highlighted the «cooperation between forces» (PJ, PSP and GNR), whose exchange of tracks allowed the outcome.

In addition to the arrests of the five suspects, six firearms were also seized.
