Aljezur receives Christmas Market

Tertúlia Socio-Cultural Association of Aljezur returns to the organization of Christmas celebrations in the municipality with an open-air Christmas Market

The Christmas celebration is back in Aljezur. The Christmas Market takes place this week, on the 16th, 17th and 18th of December, this time in an outdoor version, in Jardim Urbano da Igreja Nova, but with a diverse, lively offer for all ages.

After a forced break of two years, Tertúlia Associação Socio-Cultural de Aljezur returns to organizing Christmas celebrations in the municipality with an open-air Christmas Market, instead of the usual Christmas Fair held in the Multipurpose Space of Aljezur.

«The focus continues on a local, artisanal, circular economy concept and offering regional, sustainable products, healthy food and local artists from a proximity perspective. If you want to escape the large centers of mass products, the probability of finding an original gift, which makes a difference, with artistic and ecological value, is very high at the Christmas Market in Aljezur!», emphasizes Tertúlia.

 

 

This edition brings artisans with products such as wool and weaving, handmade candles, natural cosmetics and medicinal herbs, therapeutic pillows, author jewellery, mushrooms gourmett, illustration, japanese pottery, clothing upcycling, plants, basketry, rugs and much more diverse handicrafts to discover on site.

The entertainment program includes two concerts with the «Vizinhos» project, Latin American and Caribbean fusion music, OLL Small Ensemble, training for young people from the Orquestra Ligeira de Lagos with jazz, funk and Christmas themes by the incredible voice of Carina Lima and 1 Dj Set by Papajuju, with André Junior who brings us music from the world worldelectro with instruments played live.

In music, there will also be performances by Coro do Entrelaçar, by Rogil and Odeceixe, and by Coro da Gente by Barão de São João and a performance by the ST All Stars project, promoted by Taipa, from São Teotónio, with young immigrants.

In dance and theatre, there will be the children's group Outside the Box, with a Hip Hop presentation, and even Story Forest, with the play “The Meaning of Christmas”.

 

 

From a pedagogical perspective and of direct involvement with the community, this edition also offers a program of workshops for all ages with the Medicinal Herbs Workshop with the Naturaleza project, the African Rhythms Workshop with Arantxa Joseph, the Origami Workshop with Ana Luísa & João Mar and two Basic Life Support Workshops with the Aljezur Volunteer Firefighter Cadet School.

Food and drink cannot be missing. This year, there will be Caldeira Negra, with its foodtruck with the best vegan and vegetarian food with its famous seitanas and falafel, Mania, which, in addition to its craft beer, still brings a delicious German Hot Wine to warm our hearts, Mamy's Flavors, with homemade sweets and snacks.

Music, concerts, theatre, workshops, food & drinks, traditional mulled wine, children's programs and an ice rink + bouncy castle will make Aljezur enter Christmas in the best way next weekend!

The Aljezur Christmas Market 2022 is a co-organization between the Municipality of Aljezur and Tertúlia – Socio-Cultural Association of Aljezur, in partnership with the Parish Council of Aljezur and with the support of JM.Monteiro Filho, Rubis Gás and Crédito Agricultural.
