The Aljezur City Council will support the Association of Fishermen of Portinho de Arrifana and Costa Vicentina with the allocation of 23.370 euros to cover expenses with cleaning the basin of the fishing port of Arrifana.
«Cleaning the basin was an urgent and urgent intervention that allowed fishermen with vessels based there to continue to develop their activity in safe conditions, minimizing the risk of accidents and damage to said vessels», explains the municipality, which approved the support in a meeting held on the 15th of December.
In a note, the Chamber also mentions that, in conjunction with the Fishermen's Association, «it has always sought to intervene and alert the competent authorities to the investments made in this infrastructure, as well as the current and future needs with the objective of improving the conditions of work, the safety of fishermen and their equipment, which allow continuous and regular activity".
Having found a solution that allows the continuation of fishing activity in the port of Arrifana, the Municipality of Aljezur is pleased that this intervention allows the maintenance of jobs in this community of fishermen and guarantees the livelihood of their families.
