the sofa Sounds, which brings together more than 400 cities around the world, presenting a monthly live music curation in unique spaces, reaches Faro and already has a concert scheduled for the 2nd of December.
The event that aims to celebrate musical culture arrives in the Algarve capital on the initiative of the cooperative Contextos and the Plutão de Verão association.
As usual, the exact location is only revealed to those who bought the ticket, the day before the event and the artists are always a surprise.
The Sofar Sounds concept started in 2009 in a small London apartment. Since then, it has been uniting audiences around the world, serving as a launching pad for the likes of Billie Eilish, Jorja Smith, Ed Sheeran, Adele and Leon Bridges.
«We can do a session in a museum and the following month in someone's living room. Surprise is part of the experience and is truly exciting: as an audience and as organizers of the event», says Andrei Serotini, musician and project manager at Contextos.
“There's a very genuine nervous feeling when you buy a ticket and you don't know what you're going to hear. This puts even more attention on the music, the performers and the venue we choose », he continues.
For Contextos and the cultural association Plutão de Verão, celebrating local identity is part of the project they are trying to create.
«Musical culture is very important in Faro🇧🇷 We all believe that this project will only work if we take into account the specificities of this city and region: be it the locations we choose, the artists we want to present or the way we communicate with the public. And we have two multidisciplinary teams crossing ideas and working together to make this happen», argues Ana Beatriz Lopes, actress and producer of the project at Plutão de Verão.
Not lifting the veil on the identity or style of the artists, the organizers are sure that there will be many surprises planned for the event.
