Teachers from Lagoa participate in international training on Environmental Education

Between the 24th and 29th of October

Three teachers and social educators from the Rio Arade School Group, in Lagoa, attended, between the 24th and 29th of October, the course “Environmental Education: Learning and Acting for a Better Future”, in the Canary Islands, in the city of La Laguna, along with other professors from the European Union.

Croatia, Latvia, Slovakia, Italy and France were the countries represented under the Erasmus+ programme.

In this course, participants reflected on the role that education plays in raising awareness of environmental issues and nature conservation and understood the most significant threats to our ecosystems.

In addition, it was possible to «learn to outline strategies to teach respect for the environment and explore ways of relating school curricula with environmental preservation»

In a note, the teachers stress that, together with the students, supported by the municipality in the implementation of the Eco-Schools programme, they will be able to act in terms of environmental protection and «gain in-depth knowledge about the most relevant topics with regard to sustainability».
