Alte Chess Open brought together eight clubs from the Algarve and 80 players

Eighth edition of the Chess Open took place last Saturday

Last Saturday, the Professional School of Alte hosted the eighth edition of the Chess Open in this parish in the municipality of Loulé, which was disputed by 80 players, representing eight clubs in the Region, which had not happened in the Algarve for some time now. more than a decade.

Organized by Loulé ++ Clube de Xadrez, with the support of Escola Profissional Cândido Guerreiro, the Parish Council of Alte, the Municipality of Loulé and the Association of Chess Clubs of the Algarve, the Open de Alte is known for being a tournament which pays great attention to young people in training levels.

After in previous years the Alte Parish Council had offered trophies in wood and ceramics, always produced by local artists, this year it presented the first classified with works of art made by the master boilermaker of Alte.

The big winner of the race was Luís Botelho, from Loulé ++. The best sub-08 was Daniel Mihali, from Núcleo de Chess de Lagoa. The best under-10, under-12 and under-14 were, respectively, Illia Deynega, Afonso Oliveira and Titus Bittner, all from Loulé ++. The sub-16 category was won by André João, from AXAL, and the sub-18 category by Simão Monteiro, from Loulé ++.

 

 

In the veterans category, João Pacheco, from AXAL, stood out in the over-50 category, and in the Over-65 category, Imme van den Berg, from Loulé ++.

The best chess player in the ADC Faro was Carlos Fantasia, the best at Clube Recreativo Fuzetense was Rose Kutrev. Hélio Peixoto stood out from the Chess Club of the Sociedade de Instrução e Recreio Messinense, from the Chess Club of Portimão Hélder Correia, the Gil Eanes Philatelic and Numismatic Association had Luís Silvério as its spearhead, and the Lagoa Chess Center saw Pedro Pinto shine.

Best Woman was ADC's Ada van der Giessen Faro, and the best classified in his international link was Raúl Vela, from Loulé ++.
